Jewellery Care
JEWELLERY CARE
One of the most important aspects of jewellery care is storage. Jewellery should be stored in a clean, dry place, ideally in a soft-lined box or pouch. Each piece should be kept separately to prevent scratches, especially for delicate stones or soft metals like gold. Humidity and sunlight can tarnish or dull certain materials, so keeping items away from direct heat and moisture is crucial.

Keep jewellery away from light and heat
Heat and light can dull, weaken, or permanently damage your jewellery. Storing it in a cool, dark, and dry place helps protect its beauty and structure over time.Heat can dry out materials like pearls, opals, and enamel, making them brittle and more prone to cracking or flaking.Extreme heat can weaken metal settings, especially in delicate or vintage jewellery, making stones more likely to fall out. Some jewellery, especially costume pieces, uses adhesives. Heat can soften or melt glue, loosening stones or decorative elements.

Keep your jewellery away from chemicals
To protect your jewellery’s beauty and integrity, avoid exposing it to chemicals always put on jewellery after applying cosmetics or cleaning products, and remove it before doing household chores or swimming.Chemicals in cleaning products, perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays can cause metals like silver and gold to tarnish or corrode over time. Some gemstones, like pearls, opals, and turquoise, are porous and can absorb chemicals, leading to staining, dullness, or cracking.Harsh chemicals can erode metal prongs or settings, increasing the risk of stones falling out.Chemical exposure can strip away protective coatings or polish, leaving jewellery looking dull or worn.

Gold Jewellery:

Store your jewellery properly and safely
Choose a jewellery box with separate compartments to prevent pieces from scratching each other.Look for soft-lined interiors to cushion and protect items.Store each piece separately-especially delicate chains, gemstones, or items that can scratch easily.Use small pouches, zip bags (anti-tarnish), or soft cloth wraps for extra protection. To avoid tangling, hang necklaces on hooks or use a necklace holder.Place silica gel packets or anti-tarnish strips in your storage to reduce moisture and slow oxidation.
